I am a college counselor at two Bay Area community colleges with over ten years of experience. I advise dual enrolled high school and college students on pathways, course selection, major and career exploration, and four-year college admissions. Over the years, I developed a special passion for admission essays and career development. I taught a college course related to career planning and created personal writing workshops, including PIQs. Personal admission essays are a wonderful opportunity to deepen one's connection to self and future aspirations. They pull together my love of counseling, writing, and personal stories. I am a counselor, but also a writer at heart. I have participated in dozens of creative and non-fiction writing workshops and classes over the past twenty years and continue to write for my own pleasure. I have a Master's degree in History from UCLA and Master’s in Social Work from UC Berkeley that reflect both my academic and counseling credentials. I am a mother of two high school-age children, an avid reader, a dog lover, nature enthusiast, and a Bay Area native.
